LMC was recently awarded the Harry H. Mellon Award of Excellence in Job Order Contracting for its work done on the University of North Texas Child Development Laboratory. Named for the inventor of Job Order Contracting, the Harry H. Mellon Award of Excellence in Job Order Contracting is the industry’s highest honor. Repair, alteration and maintenance work—the core of the Job Order Contracting system—is critical for the safe and efficient use of buildings and infrastructure. While essential, this work is often not glamorous and this award recognizes the facility owners, managers and contractors who perform this important function in an efficient and cost effective way.
The UNT Child Laboratory Renovation consisted of the complete conversion of a pre-existing 9,900 square foot wood framed classroom and office building. LMC transformed the outdated structure into the Award Winning Child Development Laboratory. The entirety of the interior was removed to accommodate an entirely new layout necessitating the installation of engineered laminated beams to support the existing roof structure. The renovation called for a total update of all fixtures and finishes including; new ceiling, flooring, lighting, wall finishes, custom manufactured and installed millwork, exterior windows, and interior doors and jambs. LMC also provided the UNT facility with a complete overhaul of all plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and ductwork as well as the installation of a state of the art fire and sprinkler system.
Final Construction Cost: $1,400,000.00
